| Samenvatting: | No one knows shat is inside our heads. Nevertheless, everyone seems to be interested in judging precisely what goes on in another person's mind. In matters of peace and security sound judgment is of vital interest, for a distorted view of reality can have detrimental effects for all of us.
How can we reconstruct the mechanisms of thought in peace and security? Up to the present reconstructions have been limited to descriptions of opinions at the grass root level and analyses of decision makers' behaviour. In this volume, several Dutch political psychologists attempt to dig into the black box of thought on enemies and friends. Though they mainly employ survey data they have been guided by a new 'personological' approach, which seems to be rewarding outside the area of survey research as well. The authors unite several disciplines in a combined effort to explain attitudes, values, images, opinions and behaviour in matters of interest for everyone who really cares about a safer world through better understanding.  |
