Titel:The role of scientists in the peace movement.
Auteur: Prof. Dr. H.A. Tolhoek, Drs. L. Wecke [Eds.]
Samenvatting: What can the Peace Movement learn from scientists? What can scientists learn from the Peace Movement? How close or how loose should the relation between scientists and the Peace Movement be? What is "The relative use" of natural and social scientists end professional "peace researches"? What kind of research is useful for the Peace Movement and can contribute to more insight into the causes and functions of war and violence? These questions and possible answers have been discussed in the workshop on the role of scientists and the Peace Movement of the Amsterdam END conference. Those who are interested in the theme of the workshop, be it scientists or other citizens concerned with the problem of war and peace, are as yet invited to participate in the workshop by way of reading the papers and conclusions. In any case, one conclusion can be taken as valid: the role of scientists in the process of peace can be strengthened. A condition for the latter is growing consiousness of the actual and possible role of the scientists in matters of war and peace.
